During my master's I was responsible for training undergraduates that worked in the lab on PCR, qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, rodent trapping/bleeding, data collection and tree climbing techniques. In my time at NAU I trained ten students, in various areas, that came through the Nieto Lab. Fall 2012 - Spring 2014 |
I volunteered to necropsy foxes and wolves during the short hunting season in northern Arizona. The Arizona Game & Fish use this as a time to collect animals after the hunters have taken the pelt in order to sample and test for Canine Distemper. This was a part of their Wildlife Mortality Investigations: monitoring wildlife health, detecting enzootic events, and identifying emerging diseases project. There were NAU students present from multiple departments that were there to learn how to sample and necropsy animals. Spring 2012 & 2013 |
